  • TIME: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • LOCATION: virtual via Microsoft TEAMS

The conference will include a keynote address from Dr. Howard C. Stevenson. Stevenson is a nationally sought expert on how to resolve racial stress and trauma that affect health at every stage of life. His work prepares children and adults to assert themselves during face-to-face microaggressions that undermine academic and work productivity. Key to this racial healing work is integrating cultural strengths to reduce in-the-moment threat reactions, increase access to memory, physical mobility, and voice, and prevent long-term health detriment. Dr. Stevenson has served for 32 years as a clinical psychologist working in under-resourced rural and urban neighborhoods across the country.

Through engaging discussion with community leaders, real-life stories that sparked change, and inspiring speakers, this conference will explore ways to correct the pipeline and address the ongoing challenges.

Social Justice Lunch & Learn series

The Social Justice Lunch and Learns is a brown bag series developed to offer convenient,
engaging, and practical competency development sessions for the PHRC staff, civil rights
and human rights stakeholders and people of the Commonwealth. It is essential that all of
us who are committed to justice, work to ensure that we are addressing those harmful
systems that impact people on a macro, mezzo and micro level.

Diversity Speaks Series
The Diversity Speaks Series was developed for a general audience to provide a variety of perspectives on the most pressing human rights issues of the day.

Social Justice Lecture Series
The Social Justice Lecture Series examines the promise of the United States as a country that values equity. While reality has included a long history of oppression, this series examines the work that remains to ensure we create a society that neither diminishes nor marginalizes any of its residents.
