PHRC Statement in Support of JCCs and the Jewish Community
We, at the PHRC were disappointed and saddened to hear about the recent incidents targeting Jewish community centers and a Jewish cemetery in Philadelphia. These incidents affect our communities and the public’s trust and sense of safety.
PHRC wants to remind the JCCs across the state that we stand to support them and the Jewish Community against hate and bias.
These recent incidents hit very close to home for our Acting Chairperson, Joel Bolstein, who stated as follows:
“My family came to America fleeing religious persecution. To paraphrase Elie Wiesel, we cannot be indifferent to evil acts. We cannot stand by silently. We must all stand together against acts of hatred and anti-Semitism.”
The PHRC continues to strive to ensure that all individuals in Pennsylvania will live, work, and learn free from unlawful discrimination.
If you feel you have experienced unlawful discrimination, please visit the PHRC website at www.phrc.pa.gov to obtain a complaint form for filing a complaint with the agency. You can also contact PHRC at one of our regional offices in Harrisburg, Philadelphia or Pittsburgh. The PHRC main contact number is 717-787-4410.
